We’re happy to be offering more fun and educational programs in the WINTER 2020 Term! 

Register your child online using the “REGISTER” button which will appear below once the registration period begins. 

During your online registration you will have the option to make your program payment with a credit card (Visa, MasterCard, Amex) or via your PayPal account or via Interac e-transfer. Please note that program fees are listed on our registration site and HST is charged.

An automatic registration confirmation will be emailed to you immediately after you complete your online registration and payment confirmation – if you do not receive this email please contact us as you may not have completed the online process and therefore your child is not registered. 

Be sure to add the domain “exploreitall.ca” to your email white-list AND add the following email addresses to your list of safe email contacts; register@exploreitall.ca / registrations@exploreitall.ca

Registrations will close in advance of the program start date OR when the program is full.

Note: Parents looking for financial assistance must contact the school Principal and should email programs@owenpublicschool.ca regarding eligibility for a subsidy to have their child attend a lunch time program.

Junior Musical Theatre :  The Wizard of Oz

JK – Grade 1 (90 minutes)

Join the Explore It! team for our Junior Musical Theatre Programme and become a theatrical success! In our 90 minute sessions, we’ll explore theatre games, character building, dance and movement and – of course, we’ll learn and rehearse some of the best broadway numbers around. From toe tapping music to creative choreography, our goal is to give even the youngest performers a truly professional theatrical experience. Participants will learn about music and performance basics, rehearsing with our talented crew and participate in a short performance in front of an audience. Included in this package is a weekly snack, an end of term performance, a professional performance photo package and much, much more!

For the Winter 2020 term, we will be performing The Wizard of Oz – the timeless classic following Dorothy as she travels down the yellow brick road, only to discover that there truly is no place like home.

Note : Sessions are 90 minutes in length with dismissal at 5pm, and this program runs for an extended, 13 week term – culminating in a performance for family and friends after the last session on April 22.

 

Musical Theatre Programme : The Wizard of Oz

Grade 2 – 5 (90 minutes)

From scripts and music to costumes, hair, makeup and sets, our goal is to give young performers a truly professional theatrical experience. Participants will rehearse with our talented crew and finish with a polished performance in front of an audience. Everything is included in this package – a performance photo package as well as costuming, tickets and much, much more!

Adventures at Hogwarts

Grade 2 – 5

Hop on the Hogwarts express and step inside a world where magic is real! In this fun program we’ll do as Harry, Hermione, Ron and Ginny do… we’ll discover our wands and learn magic spells, we’ll make chocolate frogs and explore science and potions, we’ll follow a Marauder’s Map and engineer escapes, and we’ll even play Quidditch! Ditch those muggle duds and get ready for your cape… The sorting hat is coming your way!

 

Chem-Mystery

Grade 2 – 5

From crazy concoctions to exploding creations, chemical reactions are all around us – but for many, the science behind these reactions remains a mystery. Join us in Chem-Mystery as we attempt to solve these chemistry mysteries! Students will learn about both physical and chemical reactions, and then explore the different facets of each. We might explore the marvels of bubbles, create elephant toothpaste, or create our own Oobleck and make it groove to a tune. Can you solve this Chem-Mystery?

 

Chess Mates : Multilevel Chess Club

Grade 1 – 5

Min : 8  Max : 20

Explore the exciting game  of chess with us! Chess is a game that has been around for more than 500 years… You and your opponent are each in charge of an army; your goal: to catch the other army’s king before they catch yours! Now is the time to learn the strategies and tactics that will bring this game to life. We’ll explore the phases of the game and help you understand the move your opponent just made before you make your game-changing moves! Have fun as you develop your game with us this term!

Note to Parents: While this program is suitable to those with little to no experience, older, intermediate and advanced players will also be challenged with tactics, strategy and gamesmanship. The game of chess is  rich in learning opportunities and great for developing social skills.

 

Dr Seuss’ Kitchen

JK – Grade 1

What do green eggs and ham really taste like? They’re yummy! Let’s  whip up a batch together in this fun and fantastical program inspired by the whimsy of Dr. Seuss. Together, we’ll cook scrumptious, wacky recipes like Pink Ink Yink Drink, Who Hash and Cat In The Hat Pizza …  we’ll be hamming it up in the kitchen in no time! Each week, we’ll cook a recipe – accompanied by the original book, poem or verse that inspired it – so roll up your sleeves and get ready to tuck into some delicious  Sneetch Salad, Schlopp and Solla Sollew Stew!

Food Lab : Cooking with Science

Grade 2 – 5

Ever wondered how to make homemade mac ‘n’ cheese that is as satisfyingly gooey and velvety-smooth as the blue box stuff, but far tastier? What about exploring the temperamental wonders of chocolate to make decadent treats? Or perhaps you’d like to learn about your five senses and how they can help to make you a master chef in the kitchen?! In Food Lab : Cooking with Science, we’ll focus  on the science behind our most beloved dishes, delving into the interactions between heat, energy, and molecules that create great food. And – of course, we’ll eat our delicious delicacies each week! Grab your chef’s hat – let’s get cooking!
