We’re Running a 5k!

ExploreIt-5K-RunnersExplore It! is embarking on a new adventure. We have wanted from the very beginning to “give back” to the many communities around us. While we would love to one day be large enough to offer direct and sizable donations, we’ve committed to taking the first step – literally – towards helping a worthy charity this fall.

On September 14th our Director Liz and 4 of our incredible instructors will be running a 5k for charity. We’ve chosen the Toronto 5k in support of the SickKids Foundation as our first foray into the world of fundraising and we’re sure there will be many more… If only for the cool t-shirts and celebratory breakfast, we’re sure this whole “run for a cause” thing will be a huge hit.

It is our goal as a company to raise at least $500. All the funds go directly to the SickKids Foundation – a global leader in childhood research, learning and care. There is nothing closer to our hearts than the health and happiness of children – this is a worthy cause.

We raised an amazing $916.55 – that’s 183% of our goal!

“I’m looking forward to my first 5 k ever and I couldn’t think of better people to push me across that finish line, than the positive and energetic team we have at Explore It! It also helps that we are running for such a good cause :)”

“This is my 2nd 5k but I’m not much of a runner, prefer more of a run/walk combo to get me across that finish line.  For me it’s all about doing the fundraising, raising awareness and support, and then following that up with a great day with a great team and a ton of fun (and f course, breakfast after probably won’t hurt).”

Kelly

“I took up running very recently as a way to relieve tension and stress during a hectic time in our business. While I was really only looking to find a short respite from my desk, I actually found that I really loved the freedom that running brought me. I’m really excited to have this goal ahead. It’s been a fantastic summer motivator and I’ve seen that my running has inspired others around me to also become more active. The positivity I’ve gotten on the small scale by motivating friends and family and on the larger scale by raising funds for such an incredible charity has been entirely rewarding… And we haven’t even gotten our t-shirts yet!”

Liz

“I love to run, but I usually do it as a solitary thing– this will be my first time as a social runner, and I’m a little shy, but excited to ‘hit the ground running’ (groan). I’ve always wanted to do a 5k, and I’m super pumped to be doing it with Explore It! Add the good cause to the mix, and it’s bound to be a happy Saturday.”
