All participants will be dismissed after rehearsal, outside, at the Branksome Hall Junior School doors (front circle) at 5:35pm (unless otherwise noted on the schedule linked above). Please arrive at that time to collect your child. If someone other than those whom you noted in your registration will be picking your child up, please email Liz as early as possible to let us know.

Casting:
Casting is completed by the Explore It! team with the support of the school. Over many years, we’ve found that casting primarily by grade helps performers build their skills and confidence as they grow. Grade 5 performers take on ensemble work, smaller roles, and featured moments, then progress toward larger roles in Grade 6.
- Grade 6 performers will be cast in principal roles and, in some cases, may be multi-cast in substantial ensemble tracks.
- Grade 5 performers will be cast in mid-sized roles and the Company Ensemble. They will have significant responsibilities, opportunities to lead within the company, and several featured moments in the show.

We are SO excited to dive into the magic of musical theatre with you in Shrek, this term!
This page will be our go-to resource for the project. You will find here:
- The complete script, with all lyrics to every song.
- Vocal and backing tracks for each song are embedded into this page below along with the song lyrics to make for easy rehearsing. We ask that all performers listen to the vocal tracks at least once per week. Singing along while doing chores, riding in the car or hanging out with friends is an excellent and easy way to practice and learn!
- As we learn choreography, we will add break-down and practice videos for performers to rehearse with – the more we dance, the better we’ll perform – practice really does make progress!

Performers: please make time to practice at home each week! As a guide, we recommend:
- Grade 5: Approximately 90 minutes between rehearsals
- Grade 6: Approximately 120 minutes between rehearsals
Listen to all the music, and get to know the story and characters—especially your own!
In rehearsal, we’ll start by learning the songs and choreography together, then build on that work with character development and blocking. If you’d like to take on more responsibility in the production, show us by learning your part inside and out and arriving at each rehearsal ready to participate with a positive attitude. We love finding a moment for every performer to shine on stage!
