Disney Kitchen Cooking Club (CLOSED)

Junior and Senior Kinder

Even Disney characters love to cook! From short movies to full-length feature films, characters from Disney movies are often seen sipping soups, consuming cakes or sampling any number of gastronomic delights. What are they? How were they made? How can we get a piece of that pie? Recipes such as Moana’s Tropical Smoothies, Pascal’s Pancakes, Lady and the Tramp’s Spaghetti and Meatballs, Mrs. Pott’s Raspberry-Mint Iced Tea and Aladdin’s Mast-o-Khair and more will be explored – and best of all, each week we’ll enjoy our creations together at the end of class. Be our guest in this hands-on program where we’ll get into the kitchen to create a feast!

Toy Maker Pro: A STEAM Based Crafting Program

Grades 1 – 3

It’s time to revamp your toy box with Toy Maker Pro! In this creative program, we will create our own toys, games and dress-up accessories to add to our collections. In Toy Maker – the possibilities for fun are endless… We could sew our own puppets or stuffed animals. We might make ooey gooey silly putty. create our own board games or fashion our own capes, dinosaur tails and monster masks! Join us as we learn how to make the best toys – in Toy Maker Pro!

Chess ‘N Math: Multi Level Chess (CLOSED)

Grades 1 – 6

This 7 week program teaches a diverse and enriching range of chess skills! Chess is an incredibly fun tool for improving a child’s math and intelligence. The nation-wide Chess ‘N Math Association teaches chess for all levels. This Chess program provides a superb educational experience, with lessons taught by seasoned, competitive chess instructors with an extensive knowledge & passion for the game. Students will be matched with players of similar skill levels to make the program engaging for all.

Advanced Digital Photography & Photo-craft (CLOSED)

Grades 4 – 6

Join us for a program that pairs learning the skills of digital photography with the fun of crafting and creating! Mixed media and digital photography is a creative match made perfect. In this hands-on program, we will help you elevate your photos to the extraordinary through crafting techniques and mixed media approaches. We’ll explore both photography and art to create beautiful, unique and personal pieces. Let’s get to it – join us to craft your photos into incredible pieces of art!

  • No Camera? No problem! While we encourage students to bring their own to learn on, we will have cameras available for students to use and borrow.

Outdoor Adventure Club: Wild Science!

Junior Kinder – Grade 3

Join us in this program and embrace the outdoors like never before. From nature explorations and science experiments to arts and crafts, we’ll do it all. Projects may include activities such as learning to read and use a map, exploring tracks and signs of animals, creating shelter or exploring the beauty and art in nature. We’ll aim to be outside for a portion of each session, so bring your layers and find your next adventure with us in the wide and wild outdoors!

Kitchen Party Cooking Club

Grade 4 – 6

Join us in this hands-on program and explore your culinary creativity when food and music collide. Kitchen parties are all about sharing our meals, welcoming our friends and having a great time in the heart of the home (or class!) gathered around the preparation of a delicious meal. Both music and food will be explored in this program week to week, through themes such as east-coast tradition, the food of rock, rapper’s delights and musical munchies. Get ready to sing for your supper this term – it’s a kitchen party!

Masterpiece Theatre: Performance Skills

Junior & Senior Kinder

Embrace your inner thespian and explore their inner actor! Participants will explore their dramatic depths through theatrical games and activities, character development and mini-performances. They will develop performance skills while enhancing confidence, creativity, and communication skills with peers. Are you ready to step onstage and embrace the magic of the theatre?

Outdoor Games & Minute To Win It Fun! (CLOSED)

Grades 1 – 3

Join us in this active program to explore the pure joy that can only be found on the playground with friends. We’ll head outside whenever possible to play a variety of games – some you may already know, but some may have only been in your fantasies! From hula hoop and jump rope, to Quidditch and viking chess we can’t wait to race around the playground with you! On not-so-nice days, we’ll move the games indoors to engage in “Minute To Win It” style challenges, and compete for the glory. Each week will feature different themed events and the program will finish with a Grand Tournament of Fun! Join us this term to explore your active side and gaming potential!

Around The World With Food Cooking Club (CLOSED)

Grade 2 – 3

Join us as we explore cultures worldwide – through food! In World Food Fest, we will travel around the world, sampling recipes from the corners of the globe, all from the comfort of our classroom! Students will learn cooking basics while exploring the diversity of cultures and the foods people eat in countries near and far. Best of all, we’ll get to sample our tasty treats each week! Check your bags at the door – a world of tasty creations awaits!

Creative Art Studio

Grade 4 – 6

Imagination will carry us to worlds far and wide this term, as we explore our creativity through art. In this “Reggio-style” art and expression program, participants will explore a range of artistic mediums, with a strong focus on cultivating creativity and finding their own artistic voice. We will explore techniques which form a strong foundation for all art, and learn how art can inform and influence the world around us. Come and sketch, caricature and colour, to tell your story in The Creative Art Studio.

The Noisy Paintbox

Junior & Senior Kinder

In this program, we celebrate creativity, exploring the fascinating stories of artists such as Vasily Kandinsky, Henri Matisse, Jackson Pollock, Keith Haring and more – the world’s most legendary creators of abstract and modern art. Through hands-on activities each week, students will engage in the creation of a variety of art projects, exploring different mediums and techniques along the way. Join us to explore the creative process through modern and abstract art in The Noisy Paint Box!

Farm Fresh: Local Cooking Club

Grade 1 – 3

Do you love to cook but crave a new challenge? Why not learn about the importance of locally-grown, in-season ingredients, and the joy of cooking your favourite treats – all from scratch? Farm Fresh is a unique cooking program with the goal of creating more discerning and knowledgeable chefs in the kitchen and beyond! Students will prepare a variety of recipes while improving basic kitchen skills and developing leadership both in- and outside the kitchen. Do you have what it takes to be a Farm Fresh Chef?

STEAM Explorers: Women in Science (CLOSED)

Grades 1 – 3

In this hands-on program, we’ll dig in to the contributions of notable women to the fields of science, technology, engineering, art and maths (STEAM) from the ancient to the modern world. The trail-blazing women featured will include well-known figures like Jane Goodall and Marie Curie, as well as lesser-known pioneers such as Katherine Johnson – who calculated the trajectory of the 1969 Apollo II mission to the moon. Join us this term to explore Women in Science and to celebrate the achievements of the women who paved the way for the next generation of female engineers, biologists, mathematicians, doctors, astronauts, physicists and more!

Canada Safety Council: Home Alone Certificate Program

Grades 4 – 5

Is your child ready to stay home alone? The Home Alone Safety program helps children and their families get ready for a child’s first steps towards independence and being without adult supervision. Safety and accident prevention are the common themes throughout the program. The information is relevant and current. Course content includes:

  • Street smarts and safety
  • People safety (“Tricky People” and Safe strangers)
  • Online and internet safety
  • Snacking and kitchen safety
  • Home fire safety
  • Preventing accidents
  • How to handle emergencies and other situations
  • Basic first aid skills
  • Program runs from school dismissal to 4:45pm and includes a small snack for all participants.
  • NOTE: In order to complete the certification, participants will be required to attend all sessions and receive a passing grade on a test covering the materials. The test will be held during the last session of the term and make-up opportunities (if requested) will be at the discretion of an Explore It! company director. 

Canada Safety Council: Babysitting Certificate Program

Grade 6

Are you ready to take on the responsibility of becoming a babysitter? Students of this course must be at least 12 years old or turning 12 within the calendar year. The program enables the students to demonstrate their capabilities and maturity by completing the course under the responsible direction of the instructor. Students must attend all sessions and establish a passing grade of 75 percent on the final examination in order to receive their certificate.

Course content includes:

  • Becoming a successful babysitter
  • Caring for children from three months to school-aged
  • The behaviour and misbehaviour of children
  • Handling Emergencies
  • Caring for a sick or injured child
  • Prevention and basic First Aid
  • Program runs from school dismissal to 5:00pm and includes a small snack for all participants.
  • NOTE: In order to complete the certification, participants will be required to attend all sessions and receive a passing grade on a test covering the materials. The test will be held during the last session of the term and make-up opportunities (if requested) will be at the discretion of an Explore It! company director. 


Fridays

Panda Mandarin

Junior Kindergarten – Grade 3

Through this 8-week introduction to Mandarin, students will learn practical vocabulary, phrases, and cultural topics, all taught in Panda Mandarin’s trademark fun & engaging way. Let’s learn Mandarin today and begin connecting with the 1.4 billion Mandarin speakers around the world!

Dance Pop Party: Skills, Drills and FUN!

Grades 1 – 6

Do you love to dance and move, always grooving around the house or on your way to school? Join us and see where your energy can take you! In this program, students will learn elements of diverse dance styles, while also exploring the possibilities of their own movement. From lyrical, hip hop and jazz to action-based movement games, participants will have the opportunity to explore movement in a fun and supportive atmosphere while developing gross motor skills and creativity. What hidden skills do you have, ready to groove to the surface?
